The Healthy Monday Wellness program is offered by The Monday Campaigns, a nonprofit initiative associated with Syracuse, Johns Hopkins and Columbia universities that dedicates the first day of every week to health. The free turnkey program can be used by worksites, campuses and communities to promote a range of individual health behaviors and create an overall culture of health.

Why Monday? People view Monday as a day for a fresh start and are more likely to starts diets and exercise regimes, quit smoking and schedule doctor’s appointments on Monday than any other day. And a Monday start helps them carry out their healthy intentions for the week. Check out our research here.

The Healthy Monday program includes a weekly email, onsite promotions and comprehensive online resources that promote nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation and stress reduction. The program is designed to be modular – organizations can use all of part of these elements or simply incorporate a Monday cue into their existing programs. This presentation gives an overview of the program, along with tools for wellness professionals including implementation guides and ideas for group challenges and onsite promotions.
